So Many Choices in Colorado!

Living as I do in the Denver Metro area, I have access to countless opportunities for photo ops in the state of Colorado. I will not be able to show them all, but will try to include some of my favorites. To make things easier, I have organized them into the four regions below.

Swallowtail Butterfly at Denver Botanic Gardens

The Front Range

I have loosely defined the Front Range in Colorado as the easternmost mountain range of the Rocky Mountains stretching from Pikes Peak to the Colorado/Wyoming state line, including the Denver Metro area and the Rampart Range. Some of the photo ops in this area would include the Denver Zoo, Eldorado Springs SP, and Pikes Peak.

Columbine with Buds at Yankee Doodle Lake

The Central Mountains

Mountain areas south of Interstate 70 and north of US Highway 50 are considered the “Central Mountains” including the West Elk Mountains, the Sawatch Range, and the Kenosha Mountains. Some of the photo ops in this area would include the Collegiate Peaks/Taylor Park region, Mt. Evans, Cripple Creek, and Crested Butte.

Fall Colors at Rocky Mountain NP

The Northern Mountains

Mountain areas along and north of Interstate 70. The Flat Tops and the Gore Range are considered “Northern Mountains”. Some of the photo ops in this area would include Rocky Mountain NP, Steamboat Springs area, and North Park.

Meadow Flowers in Mineral Basin

The Southern Mountains

Mountain areas south of Highway 50. The San Juan Mountains and the Sangre De Cristo Mountains are considered "Southern Mountains". Some of the photo ops in this area would include the Great Sand Dunes NP, Royal Gorge, and the Telluride/Ouray region.
